A Tincture of Time is being produced as an experimental play this summer (June 20-28, 2025) as part of Portland, ME’s PortFringe Festival!

“A Tincture of Time is a multimedia, psychedelic play based on my experiences at a large hospital caring for a baby with significant medical needs. The play repositions the hospital as the important spiritual borderland it is and its personnel as magical practitioners who have access to different dimensions. Like all hospitals, it is not without its faults. This production combines the artistic visions of various artists, performers and musicians to capture the surreal experience of submitting to life in the hospital.”

To help fundraise for this ambitious project, I created a series of limited edition Risograph prints based on runes designed by artist, Alexa Clavette. Her system of runes is the magical language that the hospital world of Tincture runs on. I’m thinking of these posters as surreal PSAs that might decorate the walls of a science fiction hospital designed in the 70s… which is kind of what I’m going for in general with this project.
